ich / mich / mir — the same person in three jobs
One person, three forms. Which one you use depends on the job the person does in the sentence, not on who they are.

Quick test: if the person receives something
(a letter, help, an answer, a gift), use the dative row:
Schreiben Sie mir.
Careful: sie can mean she,
they, or formal you (Sie). The verb ending tells you which:
sie ist = she is · sie sind = they are.
